red admiral

After a summer of very few butterflies in the garden, we suddenly had 3 red admirals on a single flower! I looked them up in my butterfly book and was pleased to see that they have a pretty latin name - Vanessa Atalanta. 


Sadly, in Scotland, they are unlikely to survive through winter.
