Found out today that in spite of the fact that speeding on a canal is a Mortal Sin, all official estimates of how long it will take to get from A to B are severely inadequate.

Still, we went under a lift bridge, refuelled the boat and managed not to hit anyone else...and when I say 'we' I will make it clear TheMr is in charge of steering and I am in charge of navigation, ropes and leaping on and off.

Apparently I am incapable of steering a boat.
