Cumbria Here I Come

By marpaul

Another sunset!  From Bowness again and the two structures on the left are all that remain of the Solway Railway Junction from the days when tonnes or iron ore was being shipped to Scotland.  It was also used by passengers as well as freight and was demolished in 1934.  Apparently part of the reason is that the Scots who had no access to alcohol on Sundays, used to walk the one mile and 176 yards across to England where they could get a drink or two and get very inebriated and were known to fall into the Solway on the way home never to be seen again.

Misty was very happy to see her two boxer friends and had a run on the beach.  Can't believe how early its getting dark now.
