Yum!

This great blue heron had caught what appeared to be an eel and was struggling to subdue/swallow it.

Interestingly - after seeing only one or two great blue herons in the past two weeks, today there were five of them in a row along the main road down to the public beach on Assateague. I also saw my first willet today. First and only of this year's trip. Some years there have been a good number of them on the beach.

Heading home tomorrow morning!
