Evan at Fort Stevens

I spent the day taking care of Evan and Bella (in the Extra) at Fort Stevens, near Astoria, where their mom was working as the stylist on a fashion photoshoot. Late in the day as the sun slanted through concrete bunkers made colorful by algae and lichen, the light made me gasp. The fashion photographer had chosen the site, which was visually exciting and a wonderful contrast to the elegant gowns she was photographing, but I was surprised to see that she depended on her own lights, smoke effects, and reflectors and paid no attention to the natural light I found so stunning. I suppose she was looking for consistency.
