The Final Stile

We were back to Malham early doors today to take in the stiles we put out two weeks ago for this weekend's Dales Trophy event.  This is Tony bringing back the 12th and final stile - he volunteered to get the one furthest away on this stretch of the moor, what a star!

We decided to treat ourselves to lunch as reward and so we wouldn't have to cook today, so we stopped off once more at the Airton Farm Shop where the BBC were once again filming.  This week's food competition amongst Artisan producers is condiments and pickles so we by-passed the farm shop and went straight to the cafe to avoid being on camera.  Two women emerged from the farm shop clutching jars of pickles and were set upon by the film crew.  They had to discuss the merits of the runner bean chutney whilst attempting to eat their lunches.  The camera man kept asking them to stop and re-do whilst he took different angles and injected more discussion of the chutney!  I don't know how hot their meals would have been by the time they were left be.  They are filming all through September, focusing on different artisans each week so if you are in the area and like that kind of thing, call in.  Beef casserole in a huge yorkshire pudding and yummy Yorkshire rarebit later (plus cakes!) we were back on the road.
