Red rose

My neighbour came home from hospital this afternoon and i searched the garden to find a little posy to welcome her. It was surprising how much colour I found. This rose, however, was too large for what I needed, and anyway, there was no way I would cut it, it is far too beautiful!
I spent the morning baking, ready for the Mah-Jong group coming here tomorrow evening. I don't do much baking nowadays, trying to keep the sugar intake down, and Being out of practice. my results are a bit hit and miss. Good chewy biscuits, but the chocolate sponge didn't rise very much. Maybe it will look better when it has a filling of chocolate icing.
