The Road to Kinloch
Kinloch Rd climbs from the Akaroa Rd just outside Little River towards Bossu Rd, which in turn follows the ridge that forms the southern rim of Banks Peninsula.
The climb is in places quite steep; in fact it's a popular road for hil climb races, with several car clubs running events up the hill each year.
With the blustery equinox winds shaping clouds every which way - sometimes strong enough to skittle the tripod, luckily before camera was attached - it seemed a great day to capture some skyscapes. After stopping halfway up the hill I managed to capture some great images looking down Lake Forsyth/Waiwera towards Kaitorete spit, as well as towards the interior of the peninsula and the low valley that encompasses Little River township.
It was this shot however that I was most proud of; the cirrus cloud forming beautiful swirls over the top of Kinloch Hill and a deep blue sky.
