Ehrfurcht vor dem Leben

Had a beautiful start to the day down on the Quays in manchester. One of those chilly but sunny starts.

Anyway, noticed in the paper whilst waiting for the client that it was on this day that Albert Schweitzer was born in 1875. It merited one line but took me back 20 years. I read his 'Philosophy of Culture' as a student... partly because i loved the phrase 'to be in awe of the mystery of life' and admittedly partly because i thought it would make me look deep and interesting :)

Anyway, it had a profound effect on me and its a pity that his concept of reverence of life seems to be lacking nowadays.

I will raise a glass to you Albert.
