COMMON DARTER

Sympetrum striolatum (I think. Please feel free to correct me.)

We went over to RSPB Saltholme for the Farmers' Market and some fresh air this morning. Just beside the wildlife garden several photographers with tripods and heavy-duty kick-ass lenses were pointing at the nettles and weeds waiting to catch dragonflies in action, while just behind them the little blighters were posing for me with my point-and-click.

Sadly there were no veg stalls at the market, for some reason, only pies, cakes, bread, ginger and cheese stalls. I think we must have beaten some sort of record for purchasing the most calories in the shortest possible time. Now for some more exercise.....
