Ernesto Sábato

I was delighted when as a young reporter I met Ernesto Sábato, the Argentinian writer. On this occasion, I had the opportunity to ask him about "the metaphysics of hope," a theory about which he wrote extensively. His books gave me a lot of belief in the human spirit when I was a young student in college. What an exemplary writer and human being he was. 
Here's the obituary published in The Guardian at the moment of his death, on May 1 of 2011. Even though the photo is not great, it reminds me of a very special moment. For Mono Monday's favorite memory.
