Runner,kidney or string ?

My brother fetched me some past their best beans. They tasted stringy not that I've eaten string so I removed the beans and they were OK. We had to laugh as we remembered our Mam telling us a tale.I've mentioned she started work at 13. One of her first tasks was to prepare some beans like these. Coming from a pit village she had never seen them before so started to shell them.I imagine the beans were the tiny ones.Poor soul was so timid and most likely got a good telling off. She did though become a super cook ;)
