22 Miles
Wow, quite a day for me (Chris). Through our work, we have a nominated charity to support, which changes every 2 years. We're currently in year one of supporting Mental Health UK. That means a lot of internal charity fundraising targetted at raising funds for this worthy cause.
There are a series of challenges this week for colleagues to get involved in. Today's was to form a team of 5 and get them to walk a 22 mile route around central London. Starting at London Bridge, we headed out to the Cutty Sark at Greenwich. We then went through the Greenwich foot tunnel and walked up to the Tower of London. Next stop was Covent Garden where we had a few minutes for lunch before heading out along the North side of Hyde Park. We turned across the park at Queensway tube station walking down past Kensington Palace. Walking along the south of the park we headed for Westminster and then on down the North side of the Thames to Vauxhall Bridge. Across the bridge, we finally turned in the direction of home following the Southbank all the way back to London Bridge.
We lost a member of the team at lunchtime as he needed to attend some meetings this afternoon but the remaining four of us made it all the way around. 9am start, 5.11pm finish. Three of the team pictured at Millbank a couple of miles from home.
To say my legs and feet ache would be an understatement but when you look at the funds raised it all feels worthwhile. A good day although I've no idea if I'll actually be able to walk tomorrow.
