Farley Mount

This is a monument to a horse at Farley Mount near Winchester. The unnamed horse is buried beneath the monument and in 1733 during a fox hunt, it leaped into a 25 feet deep chalk pit with its master on its back. The horse was subsequently entered into a race under the name of "Beware Chalk Pit". All very strange!
