The wonder of wood.

I was out for a short woodland walk this afternoon, just enjoying the colours and sights of Autumn. I didn't see anyone else, just a few squirrels leaping from tree to tree, a lovely peaceful time. On my way I stopped to look at this cut branch of a dead tree. Wood really is an incredible thing, from the way it grows, to the way that, even once dead, it then supports more life. All the marvellous things that can be made from it. Finally, once it rots it then helps more trees to grow. A world with no trees would be a very odd place indeed.
