Street Art

Went on a fantastic walking tour of Buenos Aires' Street Art and Graffiti. Something I would never normally have done but absolutely LOVED it. Street Art is very much tolerated in the city, it began as an expression of freedom, for individuals living under the intense military dictatorship that ruled Argentina during the 1970s. People see it as self-expression not vandalism and many street artists make their living from commissioned work on houses and it really is beautiful.
This piece was done during 'The Meeting of Styles' in 2011 where hundreds of street artists and graffiti artists came together from all over the world to transform a plaza in a quiet neighbourhood on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. This piece was done by an artist who is apparently going through a 'mushroom stage' at the moment and is a comment on the Occupy Movement (If you look carefully you can see the word 'Bank' above the door). I saw some fantastic art today but this one particularly caught my eye.
