Mailboxes on Orenaug Road

As I strolled along the Orenaug Park trail above Main Street musing to myself that the occasional whiff of doggy-do was another similarity to walks in the Edinburgh woods, I glanced down and saw a SNAKE on the path, inches away from my flip-flopped foot.   I let out a girly scream and it slithered quickly away.  I've since discovered that it was an Eastern Ribbon Snake and totally harmless.

In the afternoon, Kate - one of many friends I have made through airbnb - came over from the Abbey where she has been staying.  We visited the Gertrude Jeykll garden in the town then came back to drink iced tea on the porch and cook big juicy lamb chops on the grill.
