Small Tortoiseshell

After church this morning L and I went to visit the walled garden at Kellie Castle. I don't think I have ever seen so many butterflies, mostly Red Admirals but this one Small Tortoiseshell kept putting in an appearance.

There are a number of apple trees and their branches are laden with fruit. We did pick up a few windfalls which L stewed when we came home. The best were still clinging on.
