Moat

Wandering around the moat (now dried) prior to a tour at Speke, I spotted this little gem. The excellent gardeners have been giving the estate a haircut in readiness for winter and exposed this interesting opening. You can see on the sandstone bricks, the marks left by the plants. It looks a bit like a door, although it is below the Morning room and there are no rooms below it. Its about 30" high. Next time I am on duty, I will need to ask around to see what information we have. You never stop learning about this fabulous estate.
