I can't believe that after 52 Autumns on this earth the sight of a conker still fills me with covetousness. 

Walking the dog requires the wearing of protective headgear - I am sure this is earlier than usual - perhaps the Daily Mail will be telling us we are in for 17 feet of snow this winter any day now.
