We were child-free yesterday allowing a teatime movie and drinks in the pub, still child-free today allowing all manner of activities, including a walk around the semi-building site that is Quartermile for photos inbetween lunch and cinema. You can't say I don't know how to treat a lady.

If you're in Edinburgh then I'd thoroughly recommend Three Birds restaurant in Bruntsfield (top of Viewforth) for a visit. Relaxed but efficient service and the food was great. We'll be back. And, if you're anywhere near an independent/arthouse cinema I'd recommend the film Untouchable. I was a bit unsure about it at first but as the narrative and characters developed it became clear that at the centre of this film was a massive heart that quite charmed and completely won me over.

And, then there was Marc... won some tickets to the Marc Almond gig at the Picturehouse and I went along as someone who used to like Soft Cell but perhaps liked the idea of Marc Almond these days rather than his music. But, rather like the movie, at the centre of this gig was a huge heart that seemed to be shared between the audience as well as the performer. Let's just say there was a whole lot of love in the room and that Marc was utterly charming and gracious and seemed genuinely appreciative of the reaction he was getting. Several highlights, but the first song in the encore really stood out for me - Marc filming the audience on his ipad whilst they sang an acapella chorus to one of his biggest hits as the disco glitterball lights circled the room. That actually sounds like it all could have been a bit cheesy but I, along with the rest of the audience, would probably use the word 'magical'. Really.
