Arcos la Frontera

We visited  Arcos la Frontera 21 years ago, but could not remember it very well.

It is described by some as a mini Ronda, but is clearly not so well to do - maybe because mass tourism is less evident, so less money around. But nevertheless it is a pretty town, very hilly with lots of ups and downs. And a very white town, which really does reflect the heat. On a hot day like today, any bit of shade is very welcome.

The extra is an eagle owl. This one is of course captive, one of several owls and hawks being shown off by the viewpoint in front of the Santa Maria church. The only place where we have seen an eagle owl in the wild is Spain. I don't know who was more surprised when it landed in a tree in a remote gorge in front of us - the owl or us. They are big birds.
