Interior of the Basilica of the Holy Blood, Bruges

Opened in 1157 by the Count of Flanders, Diederik van de Elzas the Basilica in Burg Square contains the ancient relic of a piece of cloth which Joseph of Arimathea used to wipe blood off Christ's body. It is housed in a rock-crystal vial within a glass container and people are invited to venerate it and touch it, following a simple service.
The artistry and decoration of the Basilica are truly breath-taking.
