Portrack
What a day!
Back in September there was a club walk up Stob Ban, on the bealach between Stob Ban and Am Bodach we met another walker and when it turned out that his camera had run out of battery I lent him mine to get a couple of photos. When we got home I e-mailed him a small batch of photos. For me it was a way of remembering the day and connecting with someone else who loves the hills.
In reply the gentleman offered to include us in an afternoon trip to Portrack. 'Bring a car-load' said he.
I did not realise just how amazing this offer was, it was only when I extended the offer to my gardening friend that I was told just how unique this could be.
Portrack is the private home of Charlie Jencks, Wiki - link. He designed the land-forms at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. Northumbrilandia, the Lady of the North, and many, many other installations around the world.
So K offered to drive and with A2 & P, me and A we decided to make a full day of it and spent the morning at the Crawick Multiverse, Wiki-link. An amazing place. It is a little raw round the edges, it looks like the JCB only left last week and the guy with the packet of grass seeds and the bag of gravel isn't due till next week. Having said that we spent a brilliant hour and a half clambering over the different installations and being educated on solar flares and our place in the universe.
In the afternoon we met up with John (the gentelman whose camera ran out of battery) and he guided a group of his friends (with us tagging along) round the Garden of Cosmic Speculation.
The place is mind-blowing, Garden of Cosmic Speculation. A garden as a piece of art. And everything with a deeper intrinsic meaning. My blip is of the garden of senses, where there are wind-chimes, and herbs, and puzzles.
Tired and full of the wonders of the day K drove us home.
A unique day.
Thanks John.
