Arctic-alpine heath

A beautiful day up on Creag a Chalamain apart from the wind which was strong enough in gusts to knock you off your feet.  These plants have the right idea, forming a prostrate mat a couple of cm above the ground surface.

In flower is alpine azalea with arctic bearberry, crowberry and ling.
