Wite heron - kotuku

So very pleased to see this bird fly in this morning. I was taking photos of white faced heron when this beautiful fellow showed up. I'm really hoping it is the bird that sometimes used to be here. A horrible person shot a white heron here, and although it didn't die the feeling was that with its injuries it would not be able to be released back into the wild.  However its obvious that this bird has no wing damage visible, and is flying beautifully.

Sometimes its very hard to understand people's actions. How could shooting a wonderful bird like this be considered a fun thing to do?
