festivities

It was a festival in India today...and kite flying is one of the main features of the festival. There were kites everywhere in the city. You look above and you can see hundreds of kites flying around - fighting against each other. Flying is just a small part of the game. Actually the kite flyers fight against each other. The one who manages to cut off most of the kites remains victorious in the end. And once a kite gets snapped off its string, it is just free glide back to earth. And following the trail of the dropping kite, you can see many people running around - the one who get hold of the kite first can stake claim to it. Some people cheat as well - they use long sticks to reach the kite before anyone else could - all's fair in the game :-)
followed it up with a wonder ballet presentation. There was group from Uzbekistan with 25-30 ballet dancers and about 50 member live philharmonic orchestra. really brilliant show with young ladies moving on their toes like little birds and butterflies.
