King Street East, Toronto
This view is from the second-floor rooftop patio at George Brown College's St. James Campus at 200 King Street East in Toronto. I teach two night courses here and one yet to come. The patio is a nice place to get fresh air if the wind is right. It is also chock-a-block full of smokers doing the opposite despite about 50 signs all around saying not to do so. Sigh.
This view is looking west toward the setting sun which is why the light is so-so. At centre right is the dome of St. Lawrence Hall, one of Toronto's great works of civic architecture and the subject of my previous blipfoto. There are still lots of old buildings on or around King. Many (too many) are gone and the one at left (SW corner of George & King) is boarded up and likely to be demolished. It dates from the early 19th century - 1836, if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps the facade will be preserved and incorporated into a new structure (as is often the case and fate in Toronto).
