This very dramatic shot was taken from my friend's driveway!
She lives in a developed neighborhood, with small yards and  small patches of scrub oak between the homes. But the mule deer love it! I was pulling into my friend's driveway for a visit and this buck was quite put off that he had to step aside for my car.
