Taking the ....
Not much useful done today. Morning to the GP to get a referral letter/form for my afternoon quarterly check up from my internist specialist and thought I would ask if the wait was long as I ought to have a Vitamin cocktail jab - B6, B12 and folic acid (B9). Receptionist said she doubted the queue would be shorter next week. So I took the chance.
Waited less than 2 minutes, didn't get a chance to read how to prepare my roses for the coming winter in the garden magazine. TDoc said she would have to use a big syringe to get all the liquids in. Then the tense moment as she searched for the right spot for the intra muscular needle. She hit it perfectly and no scream of pain this time. Then off for a walk in Erkheim with Flash as Angie was out riding with Luna.
Back home muddled around before taking off for Memmingen, first to the UK supermarket Aldi to stock up on Jaffa Cakes - double packet of 2 x 12 biscuits cakes costing 0.99 Euros. Will keep following this to see if they try selling us 10 biscuits cakes for the same price soon.
Wonder who is fooling who: why do Jaffa cakes write on their nutritional information on the packaging that a "portion" is 2 x 12.5g biscuits cakes?
Stuck in the checkout queue, got to the specialist 10 minutes late. Waiting room filled, so I managed to just read the summary of some car test in a motoring magazine. Wait was 5 minutes. Discussion with Doc took the same time - poor fellow desperate to find something he can do for me. No pills, no prodding so he said "we" should do a general blood test especially for iron - I had told him I was full of Vitamin B. So nurse punctured me and filled various vials with my precious blood. In & out in 15 minutes.
Then up the road to the industrial estate where there is a big supermarket which many years ago was Wal-Mart and still has a good choice of "international" foods. I wanted some sesame paste to make hummus and our local supermarket only has small jars at an horrendous price. Memmingen has a large Turkish population so prices better.
Not having eaten all day, I spotted a packet of Tunafish Sandwich To Go and bought one to eat in the car. As I opened it, I saw the "Best By" date - 13th October! 16 days away and no doubt the sandwich had been made at least the day before. Read the ingredients list and can't spot anything untoward - white sandwich bread (38%), tunafish (28%), salad cream with vinegar, egg, sugar and oils(28%) and paprika (6%).
What on earth must be in the "gas" in the package to allow "fresh" ingredients to be kept for 17 days? Will have to check up next time I go to the GP if she can fill me up with the stuff - I'll even accept a very large horse size syringe.
