Harlow Carr Gardens

SATURDAY

Up early and off to Harrogate for my first-ever visit to RHS Harlow Carr Gardens. It was the Autumn Festival of Trees and Wood with various demonstrations and events involving carving and wood cutting. The Lofthouse 2000 Brass Band were performing in competition with the distant drone of chainsaws.

We arrived under blue skies and sunshine. We were surprised at the amount of colour at this time of the year and lost count of the number of Red Admirals fluttering around.

Afternoon tea was taken in the grounds at Betty's Tea House and, as always, lived up to the expected high standard.

By mid-afternoon the rain started and we retreated to the shop to buy Christmas cards and fudge before heading home.

All in all a good day out.
