Protest
Today, I joined the Anti-Brexit march through Manchester, which coincided with the start of the Tory Party Conference, along with tens of thousands of others. Quite apart from the importance of the cause, such events are great for watching people, for reading the signs and enjoying the costumes worn by the protestors.
Speakers prior to the march included A C Grayling and Sir Vince Cable. Happily, I didn't manage to get a record of Alistair Campbell playing the bagpipes. Someone in the crowd observed that the definition of a gentleman is someone who can play the bagpipes but chooses not to do so.
I also spotted some actual Tories, the most polite, middle class slogan, and very cheerful, helpful Police officers, helping to ensure a peaceful, positive day.
