Coniston to Tarn Hows Circular Walk

We waited to go out until after what we hoped was the last deluge of the day and headed to Coniston. There had been a real cloud burst and there were small flash floods everywhere. Thankfully it was the last of the rain and we enjoyed a lovely afternoon's walk. We left Coniston and headed out towards Boon Crag Farm and the head of the lake before taking the permissive path through the Monk Coniston estate and on to Tarn Hows. From the picture it is difficult to imaging just how much water had fallen in the previous few hours. We descended from the tarn via Tom Ghyll and its impressive waterfall and then through Yewdale back to Coniston. All in all a very enjoyable walk.
The evening was spent in Cartmel Prior watching a performance by Jess Gillom a local saxophonist who last year won the woodwind section of BBC2's Young Musician of the Year. At 18 years old she is a truly wonderful performer.

Busy at the moment so blips and comments are somewhat intermittent.
