To look at him, you would say that he was a very ordinary man. His bright blue eyes and wide, friendly smile were two of his most striking features and he conveyed much energy with a quick, purposeful walk. He delivered our packages since the day we moved into this house in 2002 and did so with that smile and those sparkly eyes every time. When he pulled into the nearby signage business yesterday afternoon to make his delivery, he was confronted and killed by a tortured and deranged gunman, who was fired from that business moments before and who went on a shooting rampage that left five six dead, including the gunman himself.

He was not an ordinary man, not when you hear the hundreds of people, all of whom saw him daily and tearfully remember him exactly as I do.
