Entrance....
....the theme for todays' MonoMonday, hosted by JDO.
In the middle to late 1800's, Milwaukee became the destination of choice for thousands of German immigrants, among them men who became known as the "Beer Barons": Pabst, Miller, and Blatz to name a few of the most famous.
This is the very impressive Valentin Blatz tomb--with it's custom made brass gate in front of the entrance--located in Forest Home Cemetery. I thought of it right away when I read the theme, as I've long admired the brass gate!
And on a totally different subject, imagine Tom's and my shock as we sat down in the waiting area of the day hospital and saw on the news the horrific shootings in LasVegas! A man on the 32nd floor of a hotel, armed with 10 high powered rifles, opened fire on the 22,000 people attending an outside concert across the street. So far, according to news sources, some 58 people are dead and hundreds taken to area hospitals! This is just beyond sick!! No one knows WHY he did it, but it's always the innocent people that pay the price for someone else's sick ideations! My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those involved and injured, to the families of those killed, and to the police officers, first responders, nurses and doctors who are working to save lives!
