Medway PillBox

100s of  pill box gun emplacements were built along along the Medway which was a "stop line" in General Ironside's 1940 plan to slow down a German invasion. Most still stand and some are listed. This one looks in pretty good condition. They will serve as a reminder for generations to come of dark and dangerous days in 1940 when an invasion was considered a real possibility. This is a link to a webpage with a map of pillboxes in the South East. I wonder how many are still standing in the country as a whole.
