Amazingly, there was just a little pile of sawdust on the way home. I'd mis-tagged @north_team as I'd forgotten about @edinhelp but someone else must have alerted the council. When I arrived there was a tiny person-width gap but (rarely) a number of people stopped to help tear off a few bits apiece, starting with jaybroek, whose face emerged through the leaves from the other side.
On the way home, I heard a wee ticking noise and discovered a wee twig still wound round my rear hub.
