Lali's World

Peacefully just sitting there

Nothing more relaxing than sitting watching at the sea, leaving your thoughts wander. This was Thursday 21st September. I had a day off.

That day Scott had got a newspaper that had a Catalan independence flag in the middle page and was asking people to take photos with it to support Catalan's right to choose their future. We did, both of us. As you may, or may not, be aware there have been lots of tensions between Catalonia and the Spanish government over the last few years due to different reasons, but probably the main one is the feeling that Catalonia is giving to Spain more than they're getting back in terms of redistribution of taxes. The government hasn't been particularly flexible in terms of reaching an agreement and instead has made the life of Catalans rather difficult. This is why Catalans wanted a vote on independence. Spain has a very old fashioned constitution that was written when Franco died. According to this dusty and mouldy constitution, it is allegedly illegal to hold a referendum to choose whether to separate from Spain or not as we are supposed to be a unity. Going fast forward now from 21st September, I don't agree with the violent way the prime minister chose to stop this referendum from happening. I think he should have chosen a more civilized way. I am saddened and angered. I say no more...

Anyway, back to 21th September, Thursday. I had mostly a peaceful day off. Walks along the harbour and going to the pub to play pool with Scott.
