The centre bead at 14.5 mm shows the average size of cancer found by regular mammogram
The largest bead at 22 mm shows the average size of lump found by a woman checking her breasts.

so that those who cannot afford to pay may have a free mammogram.
In NZ, women aged 45-69 yrs are fortunate to have access to free breast screening every two years.
