The Stones
On the recommendation of cblinks2 and flipflopmcg we headed up and over the String Road (don't look down! don't want to meet a lorry!! don't want to meet another lorry!!!) to Blackwaterfoot on the other side of the Island and it's stunning coastline.
After a brief visit we drove back up the coast road to Machrie and donned our walking gear to trudge over the moors to the famous Machrie Moor Standing Stones.
Set against a backdrop of the Arran hills and the iconic peak of Goatfell, it was a great walk made all the better for the autumnal colours all around and the lack of the previous day's "liquid sunshine".
Back to Blackwaterfoot for a life saving bowl of soup at the Kinloch Hotel before heading back over the String Road home.
Funniest sight of the day, watching a tourist from across the pond sitting on a Neolithic stone waving his iPhone in the air trying to get a signal!!!
Braw day :-)))
