Torran at Dawyck

Nature Study was our Torran topic for the day.  So we had a field trip to Dawyck Botanic Gardens.  Being a serious collection of trees and shrubs, here are no facilities for young children.

Except that is for the trees which could be hugged; the feathers which could be sent floating on their way; the berries on the ground which couldn't be eaten; the pheasant which didn't mind being chased; the leaves and all their colours; the resting area underneath the tree which helpfully had shed its leaves; the disinfectant mat which was brilliant for stamping with your wellies; the trolley in the small plant area which doubled as transport for an infant; the bicycle rack which made a wonderful tunnel worthy of applause each time a young man walked through.

We'll be back.
