Forty quid

Our little French Fiat Panda (2006) is worth about forty quid.  Well I’m exaggerating (or is that minimising?)  So, imagine my surprise when I went to the Fiat dealer here to get a new rear wiper blade for it.  “That will be forty quid, sir.”  Hmmm, no thank you.  I went to the local motor factor and bought replacement rubber inserts, enough to do two or three times, for eight pounds.  It will take a small bit of DIY, but it will be satisfying. Other than that an ordinary day for both of us.  We went down to Carrickfergus to pick up a spare wheel for the new car. Like so many, nowadays, it came with just a sealant/compressor kit, only any use if your tyre obligingly gets a pretty little puncture, no good at all if it gets a big ugly hole in it or the sidewall gets gashed.  Afterwards, we walked along the esplanade.  We pass this 12th century castle regularly and take it for granted in our landscape. I suppose something that was built in 1177 deserves more respect!
