Look what we found!
For 20 years this 25 square metres of garden has been overgrown, full of Herbes, Pampas, Berberis, Rhododendron, nettles, and the most skin ripping brambles you could ever expect to find. They've choked the Copper Beech, Lilac and Blackthorns and we've tended to pretend it didn't exist. Well this last week we've grasped the nettle - so to speak - hired a mini-digger and two men with a lorry and ripped the bulk of it out. There is a good sea view over that hedge and with an appropriately raised platform that will become a late evening suntrap. We've also uncovered two new granary stones and some of the softest, wonderful topsoil imaginable.
Now MrsDB will be giving me grief until I appoint a man with a van and some stone to pave the new area. She had her mind set on Polar White gravestone gravel until I found out it would cost around £600 and told her she should pay for it from her overly generous housekeeping.
