Turkey Oak, Hopetoun Crescent Garden

Missed the rain again cycling to work, but it fells colder than yesterday.

Dental Appointment at lunchtime. Behind the dentist surgery is a wee park in Hopetoun Crescent. Each tree is different. It turns out its called Hopetoun Crescent Garden. Its a really small park, but full of different trees. This one is a Turkey Oak. It is supposed to have a traditional mushroom shape, as illustrated by the small wooden sculpture bottom left.

Doing some research, it turns out the garden was the original site of the Botanic Gardens of Edinburgh. The council even has a habitat plan for the gardens. In nearby in Haddington Place, building work uncovered the site of the Botanic Cottage, and the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh employed archaeologists to investigate the site.

Cool and a little breezy. But not bad.
