Pier

Our first full day in Scheveningen. The view from the window of our room  shows the Beach Boulevard and the pier. The pier is very distinctive, and sometimes it can be seen as from the plane as aircraft make their approach to Schipol Airport.

We take a walk along the beach as far as the harbour and then inland to Kaiserstraat before returning to the beach and heading to a cafe for lunch. The walk is quite windy, and the sand is blown across the beach into our faces.

We were slightly surprised to see work has already started on removing some of the beach cafes, we thought they would have waited until after the weekend. As today is the start of a new month we suspect it is probably something to do with payment to the council for their beach trading licenses,
