A time for everything

Choir night

Out to church choir this evening. This is a blip of the music we are practicing at the moment. The one on the top is an arrangement by Mark Hayes, one of our favorite composers. We have done a couple of concerts of his music, which he has conducted himself. He is a prolific contemporary composer and arranger of Christian music, and an amazing pianist, and he travels widely, giving seminars, leading clinics, giving piano recitals and conducting concerts of his music.

When we got home, we found for the second night running we had no power. Not something you want when the temperatures are as frigid as they are at present. Yesterday evening I was out most of the evening, but Roger told me the power went out soon after I left at 7.30 pm. He had called the energy company and they estimated they would have it back on by about 3am! With temperatures dipping into the low teens F, the house soon began to cool down. Fortunately they were reasonably close with their estimate, with the power being restored at about 5 am. It was long enough to make you think about those less fortunate than us who dont have the same protection from the cold, and also about the electric workers themselves working outside in those bitter temperatures. This evening was even colder, but fortunately the power was only out for about 3 - 4 hours.
