Blackrock Cottage
Last day of our long weekend staycation.
Overnight at The Holly Tree Hotel which began life as a train station - I find that far more interesting than it probably should be! Nice seafood and wine too.
After checking out, we drove along to the National Trust's Glencoe Visitor Centre - which was shut because of a powercut!
An hour long leisurely stroll around forest paths in rain of varying intensity took us back there - power restored - and time for a latté!
Final stop on the road back to Edinburgh was to this cottage which lies on the road on the way up to the Glencoe Mountain Centre - photos of the cottage with snow on Buchaille Etive Mor behind feature in a number of publications.
If you're a member of the Ladies Scottish Climbing Club you can book your stay in this 'rural retreat'. Limited facilities, but it does have electricity, a handpumped toilet in the adjoining coal shed, and running water - which you collect from the burn in the garden as needed!
Back to work tomorrow - must start saving up for Peru next Summer now it's been booked and the deposit paid for!
