Ness Book Fest
I went to the Puffin Pool with Anne first thing in the morning. It was almost dark still when we left. The moon was just going down and had been shining bright for most of the night.
During the afternoon Mike and myself went into Inverness to the Ness Book Fest. First we went to the Highland Print studio where we listened to two authors talking about their books based on Skye. The books were very different from each other but I think I would read both. The first one was by Liz MacRae , now living on the Isle of Skye for the last 8 years , she told us of her childhood holidays spent in Portree with her Grandparents who lived there and how historical events have influenced her writing. She read a couple of pages of her new book , ' No safe Anchorage ' which is being launched next month.
The other Author was a young man named Ross Sayers talking about his Book 'Mary's the name' .Coming from a completely different angle, Ross wanted to find somewhere remote where he could 'send' Mary and get Granpa after a robbery takes place in the Bookies where Granpa worked and after a two day visit to Portree , Skye was the perfect place. It sounds like there us a lot of comedy in this book.
We did nt know where the best place to park would be and. I've had a brainwave , if we parked in The Waterside we could have High tea there after :)) Great plan and I enjoyed a mixed grill, soo tasty and Mike had lasagne. We could nt manage the cakes so brought them home in a box.
Perfect timing to go on to the next talk in the Velocity Cafe, pictured above. What a great venue with a great vibe :)
This talk was by Wild walker , Chris Townsend who showed slides and told us all about his very long walks through a range of different trails. He thinks he must have walked over 20,000 miles so far.
A really enjoyable time and free too, we did give a donation though as the events nearly did nt take place this year.
