One flew over
We drove over to Middleyard today, to pick some apples from our friends Symon and Jon's orchard. After filling a couple of sacks, and stuffing my handbag with pears, we sat down for a cuppa in their sunny garden. Steve wanted to know all about their electric car, which is a Tesla. It sounds marvellous, because the charging is free. Apparently the battery is made up of over 5000 little AA batteries in sections, in a protective covering.
I remember, 20-odd years ago, I knew a scientist who'd worked at MIT. He was then working, in Stroud, on an electric car, but it was only seen to be useful as a second car, because of the charging problem. Times have changed. I saw the mad scientist in the street the other day. He is very tall, but almost bent double with what might be osteoporosis. He never did get his car launched, as far as I know, because he had bipolar episodes that severely disrupted his life.
Anyway, on the way back we stopped because CS wanted to blip some cows, and I wanted a wide angle landscape, but just then a paraglider flew right over my head. I've chosen that instead because phone shots of landscapes tend to disappoint...
