Memorial

Came across this poignant memorial on Sizewell beach - memorial to 22 young Dutchmen who attempted to escape Netherlands in 1941 and join the allied forces by rowing across the North Sea in kayaks. Only 8 survived the attempt and of those only 3 survived the war. This memorial was erected by the last surviving member of the group in memory of his friends and of the moment he found freedom on our shore.
